Workmode: Google Venture’s Daniel Burka thinks every designer should know how to address core business problems

Welcome to Workmode, the podcast from our friends at Dynamo.

To call Daniel Burka a designer would be to discount just how multifaceted his career has been thus far. While he is best known as the former creative director of the website Digg and in his current position as design partner at Google Ventures he is also a successful entrepreneur.

In 2008 he co-founded the social networking service Pownce, which was acquired by Six Apart in 2008. In 2009 Burka left Digg to join Tiny Speck, the gaming startup started by Flickr co-founder Stewart Butterfield. In 2011 he left and co-founded Milk, a mobile development lab, with Kevin Rose and Jeff Hodson.

In this episode he shares his thoughts on why design is more than just Photoshop, being bullish about the Design Sprint method, and how addressing core business problems should be part of any designer’s skill set.
