WeWork to unveil Montreal coworking space in March
WeWork, the New York-based chain of coworking spaces, has announced it will open a Montreal location in March, 2016.
According to BuzzBuzzHome‘s Josh Sherman, a Montreal location run out of Place Ville Marie will be WeWork’s first in Canada. WeWork’s website also shows that a Montreal space will open.
They won’t be stopping there either. It’s also reported that the company will expand to Toronto, with a planned move into 230-240 Richmond Street West. Postings for two Toronto-based positions, a community manager and a front desk associate, currently appear on the career section of the company’s website along with employment opportunities in Montreal.
But as BuzzBuzzHome reported, WeWork will be entering a cluttered, competitive market in Toronto, with a host of options for coworking.
“It will enter a market that offers a number of options — including tenancy at shared commercial spaces at the Centre for Social Innovation’s three locations and Foundery — for businesses seeking alternative office arrangements,” wrote BuzzBuzzHome.
Montreal also boasts a plethora of attractive options for small teams and freelancers as well, with new coworking spaces popping up all the time.
Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported WeWork had raised $400 million from investors, while the company is said to be valued at $10 billion.
Along with the planned expansion into Canada, WeWork is also reportedly planning on opening a Mexico City location as well. WeWork currently runs 14 locations in the United States, three in Israel, one in Amsterdam and one in London.
