Montreal’s Transit app has for years been a trusted sources of real-time information for bus and train arrival and departure times, Uber, Lyft, bikeshare & scooters in over 200 cities worldwide. Not these homegrown transit innovators have come up with a new invention under Covid-19… Touchless bus fare purchase.

The team at Transit has partnered with the STM, STL, RTL and EXO (the agencies which make up the ARTM) to make your commute as contracless as can be. Rather than searching through 100 cards for your Opus in the rain, or fumbling around the bottom of your handbag for change in -15 degree weather, now the latest version of the app makes this a thing of the past.

Just select “Buy ticket” to begin and choose the type of pass you want to buy. Then, buy your fare by signing into your Transit account. If you don’t have an account yet, it’s quick and easy to get one. Next enter your payment info. Then simply confirm your purchase and make sure your pass must is activated on your phone before you board the bus. (Service not yet available for the metro or trains). Have your activated ticket ready to show when you board and you’re all set.

To see your tickets, just tap the “gear” icon top left corner of the main screen. Under “My tickets,” you can see the passes you have available, or purchase additional fares. Transit is available in the App Store and on Google Play.
