Toronto Here we Come! MTL Sends Delegation to Collision
Playoff hockey is not the only thing Toronto can hold over Montreal this year.
Collision is coming to Canada, and more specifically to Toronto, for the very first time this coming week. This mega-conference has so many different speakers and tracks to follow it’s genuinely difficult to decide what to see. It is in fact impossible to take it all in.
For those of you who are not familiar with Collision, this year marks the 5th edition of the event with previous editions being held in places like Las Vegas and New Orleans. Organized by the team behind Web Summit, Europe’s largest technology event, more than 25,000 people are expected to attend at Toronto’s Enercare Centre from May 20-23.
Rather than stand idly by and watch Toronto have all the fun, the team at Bonjour Startup Montreal has planned an invasion, (make that a business trip) organizing travel for a Montreal delegation heading down the 401. About 150 members of our city’s startup and tech community will be making the trip. They will be joining delegates from 120 countries around the world, including more than 3,000 CEOs and the sitting Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau himself.
After their launch earlier this year, the team at Bonjour Startup Montréal has been looking for ways to help the city’s innovation ecosystem. The trip to Collision is just one of many they have planned. “The whole team is working extremely hard to set up activities and offer exceptional opportunities for Montreal startups. We are delighted by the positive response this project has received from the Montreal community. This is a good testimony that in only a few months of existence, we have been able to rally the key players to our mission,” said Nancy Gemme, Director of Bonjour Startup Montréal.
Transportation to and from The Six is being provided by none other than Montreal’s own bus.com. CEO Kyle Boulay tells MTLinTech “We’re really proud that the service we offer is enabling Bonjour Startup Montréal to send a delegation of Montreal entrepreneurs to Collision 2019. There’s a lot of interesting things happening in the Montreal startup scene, and Bonjour Startup’s initiative is really important in terms of bringing attention to that.”
Launched January, Bonjour Startup Montréal’s mission is to facilitate the creation, growth and influence of Montreal startups and to position the city as one of the world’s top 20 most dynamic ecosystems. The convoy leaves at 6:00AM on May 21 from Notman House.
