The Caisse de depot set to make a big bet in India’s future

The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec announced Wednesday that it will open an office in Delhi and that it intends to invest US$150 million in renewable energy in India.

The Indian office will seek the best investment opportunities for the fund in all asset classes in all South Asian market classes, a statement said.

The $150 million for renewable energy will focus on hydro, solar, wind, and geothermal energy. The investments in these areas will be in form of strategic partnerships with leading Indian companies.

Marangoly Anita George will head the Indian office. She previously worked for the World Bank’s energy department, as well as the Société financière internationale and Siemans financial services.
