Automattic’s Catherine Stewart headlines Startupfest 2020 speakers list

Montreal’s annual tech conference, Startupfest, announced its headline speakers for this summer’s event. In past years, Startupfest speakers have ranged from Shopify’s Tobias Lutke to Reddit’s Alexis Ohanian

Automattic chief business officer Catherine Stewart is among 21 speakers. Automattic is the parent company of WordPress.

Meetup CEO David Siegel will also speak at the festival as will Stephanie Lampkin, a former downhill ski racer and founder of Blendoor, an enterprise software startup that mitigates unconscious bias in hiring. More speakers include Mike McDerment, CEO of FreshBooks, and former Airbnb growth product marketer Lennie Rachitsky.

Other speakers announced this week include TechCrunch’s Darrell Etherington, RedHat’s Margaret Dawson and OMERS Ventures partner Laura Lenz.

“This network of ambassadors who speak about the event in ecosystems around the world has allowed us to move, over the past ten years, from an informal gathering of 100 people to one of the best startup events in the world, welcoming more than 6,000 participants in Montreal,” Startupfest wrote in an announcement.

Here’s what Startupfest had to say:

“This year, we want you to walk away with even more. Less Chicken Soup for the Soul, and more concrete takeaways: “how-to”, “what works”, “don’t do this”, and “here’s where we’re headed”—because after all, hindsight is 2020. We’re welcoming founders, pioneers, new faces, and industry legends across multiple stages this summer.”

Startupfest, now in its 10th year of existence, takes place July 15-17 2020. You can buy your ticket here.
