Zú the non-profit organization and space for innovation in the entertainment sector announced today that Noor Elhuda El Bawab will join as Program Director. Noor will be responsible for the development of the various incubation and commercialization programs at Zú.

Noor was part of the founding team at District 3. During her tenure as Managing Director, she supported the development of numerous initiatives aimed at providing better services to entrepreneurs. Noor also sits on the Board of Directors of La MAIN, the Mouvement des Accélérateurs d’Innovation du Québec. Her involvement in the innovation ecosystem earned her the title of Community Champion in 2017.

The combination of programming and physical space has similarities to the Concordia campus District 3 project. In the case of Zú, the program will be housed in the Maison Alcan building on Sherbrooke Street in the Golden square mile district and will bring together not just technology entrepreneurs and creators, but also artists.

Maison Alcan was purchased by the Cirque du Soleil from Rio Tinto Alcan in 2013. In 2015 entrepreneur Guy Laliberté sold the majority of Cirque du Soleil to private equity firm TPG Capital, but he retained a 10 percent stake in the company, as well as ownership of the Maison Alcan. Laliberté later founded Lune Rouge, an investment company focused on the intersection of technology and entertainment and rolled in ownership of the building. Lune Rouge is also one of the supporters of Zú.
