Nominations now open for the first Startup Community Awards

This fall the startup community is getting together to honor those who have worked so tirelessly to make Montreal the wonderful city and tech ecosystem it is.

On November 22nd the OSMO Foundation, in collaboration with MTLNewTech are launching the first edition of the Montreal Startup Community Awards at Notman House. It’s time to celebrate all those people, places, and organizations that are contributing to the development of the Montreal startup ecosystem.

“It’s always been a dream of Alan MacIntosh’s for the OSMO Foundation to host community awards because Notman House has always been by the community, for the community,” Emma Williams, Director of Notman House told MTLinTECH. “This was a logical project to take on to really highlight people who are supporting the startup community. We knew we couldn’t do it alone, so we approached MTLNewTech, and it turns out it was always a dream of theirs as well and they were looking to launch community awards this fall. It just made sense to join forces and launch them together.”

There are 10 categories you can nominate somebody for, including: corporate champion of the year, startup champion of the year, speaker of the year, community organizer of the year, volunteer of the year, mentor of the year, connector of the year, ambassador for Montreal of the year, diversity champion, and community champion of the year.

To nominate, click here or visit (startupcommunityawards.com) by October 31st.

“They just need to go rack their brains and nominate anyone for any of the ten categories. They have until October 31st, and on November 1st it will switch over to the voting.”

Ticket sales for the gala awards evening on November 22nd will go on sale the same day voting starts: November 1st.

“Anyone in the startup community who’s interested in coming should register. We’re going to try to have a red carpet, there will be real awards, it’ll be a proper gala to celebrate everyone that’s working really hard to build up the ecosystem.”
