Funding opportunity for collaborative projects between Quebec and the Nordic countries
Does your startup have two or more partners in the Nordic region? Do you want to work on projects with Quebec on culture and innovation?
The Quebec government and the Nordic Council of Ministers have allocated $40,000 CAD and 200,000 DKK respectively to provide financial support to companies in the fields of culture or science and innovation.
The effort is the result of a Letter of Intent signed by the two governments on February 27th, 2015. The goal of the letter is to increase knowledge of each other’s regions and create real cooperation between stakeholders in Quebec and the Nordic countries.
Interested parties are invited to apply for funding by February 15th, 2018. Approved projects could receive up to CAD $10,000 a year.
This year’s inaugural call prioritizes the cultural, scientific, and innovation sectors. Within science and innovation the following fields take precedence:
- Digital innovation
- Sustainable cities solutions
- A new view of the value chain – bio-economy and food solutions
- Life sciences
- Nordic and maritime development
- Wood technologies and clean building
Special attention will also be given to projects involving partners between the ages of 25 to 35.
The allocated project support can’t replace the support usually granted by other financing organizations (i.e. can’t be used for operating costs or employee salaries), but can be used to cover transportation costs between the two regions, per diems, publication, promotion and information dissemination fees, and any other fees linked to a jointly created work or hosted event.
To be eligible, projects must involve at least two institutions/stakeholders from the Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and/or Åland Islands) and one Quebecois partner; be carried out jointly both in financing and impact; foster long-term exchanges between the two regions; and begin on April 1st, 2018 at the earliest.
