The organizers of Startup Ski think work needs to be balanced with nature and time away from the screens. Winter in the city can be challenging, and a trip out of town with nice people might be the solution for a better morale. And just to be clear, people are not expected to pitch ideas or anything like that: simply travel and network in a casual ambiance.

Startup Drinks

Startup Drinks is back! Sort of.

As is tradition, the organizers of Startup Drinks are skipping this months event and making plans to meet up at TechNoel on Dec. 15 instead. Early Bird tickets for TechNoel have all sold out, but about 70 regular ($15) and late bloomer ($20) tickets remain.

Big Bang Techno - InnoCité’s Demo Day

It’s that time of year again. The city of Montreal’s civic-minded accelerator program InnoCité is set to put on its newest Demo Day. Those interested can register here.

Last time we heard from InnoCité it was in October, when the program announced the four startups admitted into its new cohort: MLDB.ai, City Parking, Give-A-Seat and We Grab It.

With this new cohort the program said it’s “expanding its horizons,” adding urban innovation startups from sectors other than those of the Montreal Smart and Digital City action plan which remain the accelerator’s priority.

InnoCité MTL receives financial assistance from the Government of Quebec through Entente Montréal 2015, administered by the Secrétariat à la région métropolitaine. Several organisations also provide funding, including TELUS, Desjardins, Pages Jaunes, and GE Lighting, as sponsors of InnoCité MTL and Real Ventures, Pages Jaunes and Quebecor, as investors in program participating startups.

The program does not invest in startups upon entry to the program, nor does it take any equity.
